Before
The Challenges
Behind the Times
Shiro’s online presence had fallen behind the competition, and was due for a massive update
Efficiency Online & in Restaurant
Clarifying the goals of the e-commerce solution in order to have the most efficient solution for the in-house Shiro employees and customers
Balance
Balancing the clients goals with the needs of the user
The Reasoning
- Taking inspiration from the restaurant exterior, interior, and Shiro’s existing brand. Then translating it to a user-friendly, digitally-designed space to create a true connection to both
- Emphasizing the strategic balance of the services and features Shiro of Japan has to offer, such as information about the on-site restaurant and the ability to order online
- Develop user paths that encourage conversions, such as placing a catering order or making a reservation
Typography, Color Scheme, and Button Styles
Desktop Low Fidelity Wireframes
The Solution
- Typography: An elegant serif header and sans-serif font body to help convey a sense of tradition and weight
- Colors: Red, white, tan, and black as the primary site colors in accordance with the Shiro brand along with hints of pink and blue as accents
- Graphics: Using brush stroke elements that are hierarchical separators, and illustrative backgrounds to accentuate the restaurant’s imagery. Some parallax backgrounds were used to add a layer of dynamism
- Layout: With an overall focus on linework and a blend of textured elements, this helped create a modern yet traditional approach to the website, allowing for an authentic representation of Shiro of Japan, but in a digital format
- User Flow: Creating a streamlined and strategically segmented flow of navigation by balancing call to action prominence and segmenting the restaurant’s services and features
The Results
The client was happy with the results of the project.
